چکیده

Floating treatment wetland (FTW) is a promising technology for nutrient and metal removal from stormwater. Plant the key component of an FTW, facilitating pollutant through plant uptake microbial actions. A careful selection species essential efficient FTW. This paper reviews available literature focusing on role plants in FTWs to identify research gaps provide future directions. From field-scale research, it was identified that Baumea articulata, Phragmites australis, Chrysopogon zizanoidses Carex appressa were high-performing nitrogen phosphorus removal. It found presence community largely depends upon species. Microbial abundance are also limited by environmental factors such as pH, dissolved oxygen concentration. Multi-species plantation widely adopted FTWs, but its effectiveness not proven even though has potential enhanced under right condition. Development harvesting strategies permanent pollutants FTW system depend season distribution tissue. review provides critical insights into selection, microbes, multi-species system.

Stormwater Treatment Evaluation of a Constructed Floating Wetland after Two Years Operation in an Urban Catchment

Constructed Floating Wetlands (CFW) for stormwater treatment are increasingly used to treat urban runoff. However, studies of large-scale systems and the long-term evaluation of their treatment efficiency are scarce. This article presents the final results of a two-year study of the pollutant removal performance of a CFW in a stormwater pond capturing runoff from a low-residential catchment in ...

Floating Treatment Wetlands: an Innovative Option for Stormwater Quality Applications

Floating Treatment Wetlands (FTWs) are an innovative variant of the more traditional constructed wetland and pond technologies that offer great potential for treatment of urban stormwaters. FTWs employ rooted, emergent macrophytes (similar to those used in surface and subsurface flow wetlands) growing on a mat floating on the surface of the water rather than rooted in the sediments. Thus, they ...

Laboratory study of heavy metal phytoremediation by three wetland macrophytes.

Detention ponds and constructed wetlands have proven to be effective in reducing peak stormwater runoff volume and flow, and recent interest has extended to utilizing them to improve stormwater runoff quality. A review of stormwater runoff studies indicated that lead, zinc, copper, cadmium, phosphorus, and chloride are contaminants of primary concern. In laboratory settings, the uptake of conta...

Genetic modification of wetland grasses for phytoremediation.

Wetland grasses and grass-like monocots are very important natural remediators of pollutants. Their genetic improvement is an important task because introduction of key transgenes can dramatically improve their remediation potential. Tissue culture is prerequisite for genetic manipulation, and methods are reported here for in vitro culture and micropropagation of a number of wetland plants of v...

Phytoremediation of Dairy Effluent by Constructed Wetland Technology Using Wetland Macrophytes

One of the burning problems of our industrial society is the high consumption of water and the high demand for clean drinking water. Numerous approaches have been taken to reduce water consumption, but in the long run it seems only possible to recycle wastewater into high quality water. In this study, an attempt was made to compare the efficiency of aquatic macrophytes like Typha sp., Eichhorni...
